Week 4: June 2nd - June 8th

OUTCOMES: This week Jeff and I finished up the Purchasing and Contracts page templates. We got the code all squared away and are now waiting for the customer to give us her files before we roll out to production. I also helped Jeff with a bug in the new menu for CMS 2002. It was acting buggy on IE 6.0 but was fine on IE 7.0. I discovered that it was a server side problem, Jeff did some tests and found that the version of one of the applications on the server was not up-to-date. Updating the version fixed the problem.

COMMUNICATION: Had a few small meetings face-to-face with members of my team to figure out some problems we were having with projects. No out-of-office communication this week.

NEXT WEEK’S GOALS: Next week Jeff wants me to help him debug some more code within CMS 2002. I'll also be trying to get the Purchasing and Contracts page rolled out to the production server. This week I began on a work order to get an Animal Services graphic into the navigational area of the website. I'll be working with the customer from AS to figure out proper placement as well as their marketing needs so we can find the best spot for the image.

REFLECTIONS: This week I was able to draw on my computer science courses for code debugging. It had been a while since I had really done any of that, since I switched majors from CS to Digital Media during my second year of college. It was really fun figuring out if there were errors on the iterative loops or if functions were being called correctly.

OTHER: I found out this week that I've won the Florida Career Professional's Association's award for the 2007 Cooperative Education Student of the Year for my work with Orange County over the past few months. This award was state-wide, so I was very humbled and honored to be the recipient. We're gonna throw a party in the office and some people from the Communications division are going to come by to do a write-up for the Orange County employee newsletter.
